Pramono Inspects LRT Construction, Waskita Karya Guarantees On-Time Completion

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, accompanied by Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) President Director Iwan Takwin and Director of Engineering and Development Robert Sajaka, inspected the construction of the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B on Tuesday (14/7/2026) to ensure the smooth progress of the project. Also present were PT LRT Jakarta President Director Aditia Kesuma Negara and Waskita Karya Director of Operations II Paulus Budi Kartiko. During the visit, Pramono stated that the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B would serve as an inspiration or role model for solving Jakarta’s transportation problems. He expressed gratitude to the contractor, the Jakpro management, and the LRT Jakarta team for their work on the Rp 4.1 trillion project. ‘All of this activity is entirely carried out by the nation’s own people through PT Waskita and Nindya,’ he said, as quoted from a press release on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Pramono hopes the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B can be inaugurated in August and become the new face of transportation in the capital city. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakpro fully support the presence of the Velodrome-Manggarai route. In line with Governor Pramono’s expectations, Waskita Karya has confirmed that the city will soon have a new public transport option that will enhance urban connectivity. The infrastructure will connect East Jakarta with Central Jakarta, while strengthening intermodal integration at Manggarai Station. ‘We have now completed the installation of the steel box girder above the active Double-Double Track (DDT) railway line at Manggarai, within a limited window time of less than three hours. The girder installation was carried out without disrupting the operations of the KRL commuter line or intercity trains passing through the route,’ Paulus explained in an official statement on Tuesday (14/7/2026). This step demonstrates Waskita’s high commitment to implementing the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) system. Despite the accelerated pace of work, the company continues to pay attention to quality standards, worker safety, and minimising negative environmental impacts. Waskita has even recorded an achievement of 7.5 million safe working hours without a lost time injury on the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B construction. This achievement serves as proof of the consistent implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) standards. ‘These 7.5 million safe working hours form an important foundation in the execution of a project situated amidst Jakarta’s heavy traffic and limited working space. As is known, the main challenge or urban constraint in the LRT Jakarta construction is the city’s perpetually congested traffic,’ he clarified. Paulus added that the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B work is now entering the slab deck or structural floor casting process on the bridge. This will be followed by the installation of precast concrete parapets and U-ditches. ‘The slab track work is scheduled to be fully cast by 1 August. This will support preparations for train run testing up to Manggarai Station,’ he said. Paulus mentioned that train runs have been conducted several times up to Kayu Manis Station. The test results for the 3.6-kilometre track show that this transport facility is safe for public use. ‘Systematic and structured testing of all components continues, from the track, signalling, electricity, and communications, to operational integration. Every metre of the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B track is part of Waskita’s responsibility to the public. Therefore, we are executing it with careful calculation, precision, and constant coordination with Jakpro as the owner,’ he said. He continued that Waskita Karya’s involvement in the project’s construction is not only about the construction work but also an opportunity to demonstrate its showcase capability. This high-visibility project means the quality of the work has a direct impact on the company’s long-term reputation. Waskita Karya, he asserted, is committed to continuously supporting and overseeing the realisation of integrated transportation modes in the capital city as a whole. The construction of the LRT Jakarta further strengthens the company’s track record as a highly competitive state-owned construction enterprise, both domestically and internationally. ‘We are optimistic that the presence of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B will not only add a modern public transport option but also facilitate citizen mobility and encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport. Ultimately, this will have a positive impact on the environment by supporting the government’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) target,’ he said.
