Pramono Inaugurates Meruya Selatan II Auxiliary Health Centre
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo inaugurated the new building of the Meruya Selatan II Auxiliary Health Centre in Kembangan District, West Jakarta, on Monday. The Kembangan District health centre currently operates eight auxiliary centres, including Meruya Selatan II, which serves approximately 20,113 residents. By 2025, average daily visits to the centre are expected to reach between 80 and 100 patients per day.
“I observed that almost all the facilities are in very good condition, and the community’s response shows great appreciation for the services provided,” Pramono stated during his visit to the centre in West Jakarta on Monday. During the event, he praised several service innovations introduced at the Meruya Selatan II facility. These include ‘Teras Sehat’, which empowers the elderly through hydroponic farming, medicinal plants, and fish farming for high protein sources; ‘Glam/Gym Lansia Aktively Mandiri’, an area for the elderly to engage in light physical exercise; and the ‘Moana Area’, a children’s playground focused on motor skill development.
“It is actually the first time I have seen an elderly group, some as old as 83, utilising a health centre as a place to gather, exercise, and socialise,” Pramono remarked. The Governor expressed his hope that the presence of this centre would further improve the accessibility of healthcare services in Jakarta.
Currently, the Jakarta Provincial Government manages 31 hospitals, 44 primary health centres (Puskesmas), and 292 auxiliary health centres. Additionally, two more hospitals are planned for construction as part of the effort to strengthen public health services and ensure equitable access across the city. “This is the spearhead of the Jakarta Provincial Government in providing the best healthcare services for the community,” said Pramono.
The Meruya Selatan II Auxiliary Health Centre is supported by 17 healthcare professionals, including general practitioners, dentists, midwives, nurses, and other support staff, serving four RW (community units) in the Meruya Selatan II area. Alongside the strengthening of health facilities, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also reinforcing priority health programmes, including free health screenings, community-based mental health services through JakCare, and the digitalisation of health services via JAKSIMPUS.
