Pramono Inaugurates 4 Sub-District Offices, Emphasises That All Services Must Be Free
The inauguration took place in Senen Sub-District, Central Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026), covering the offices of Senen, Tanah Tinggi, Semper Barat, and Sunter Jaya sub-districts. Pramono described sub-district offices as the spearhead of public services closest to the people.
“The closest and most complained about is the sub-district. Therefore, this is the frontline of services provided to the community,” Pramono said in his speech.
Pramono admitted to having personally inspected services at the One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) in the sub-district office. He ensured that various licensing and population administration services are not charged.
“I asked, does processing a permit require payment or not? The answer was free. Handling vehicle registration, transfer letters, and so on, is there any levy? No. Everything is free,” he stated.
He also reminded his subordinates not to engage in illegal levies. Pramono emphasised that services must not appear free upfront only to impose hidden charges later.
“Don’t let it be free in front of the governor, but charged behind the scenes. It’s not allowed. If it’s free, it must truly be free,” he asserted.
In addition, Pramono requested that sub-district offices not only serve as places for administrative matters but also as spaces for social interaction among residents. He encouraged a shift in the mindset of civil servants to prioritise humane public services.
“Sub-districts must open themselves as widely as possible to the community to voice complaints and resolve on-the-ground issues,” he said.
Pramono also targeted the gradual improvement of sub-district offices until 2030. Of the total 267 sub-districts in Jakarta, he wants all of them to have decent and representative facilities.
“This programme will continue. Hopefully, by 2030, more sub-district offices will be improved,” he remarked.
He hopes that with better facilities and optimal services, the presence of government at the grassroots level can truly be felt by the community.
“If the community feels as comfortable as at home, services will run well,” he concluded.
