Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed hopes that the escalation of conflict occurring between the United States-Israel and Iran will not be prolonged.

According to Pramono, a protracted conflict between the nations has the potential to affect the stability of goods and services prices.

“I sincerely hope, as Jakarta Governor, that this war does not last long. Because if it does persist, it will certainly have an impact on goods and services,” said Pramono when met at Sarinah, Central Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026).

He explained that more than 30 per cent of global oil distribution passes through that route, including the shipment of various other commodities.

Should that route be disrupted or closed, logistics costs are estimated to increase and impact goods price inflation.

“If this route is then closed, the supply chain will certainly become longer, and the cost of transporting those goods will become more expensive,” he said.

“The impact on prices will certainly be affected. Therefore, I hope that this war does not last long,” said Pramono.
