Pramono hopes Rasuna Said revamp will be a gift for DKI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo targets the completion of the Rasuna Said area redevelopment in South Jakarta by 22 June 2026, to serve as a birthday gift for the capital. “Hopefully, the target is 22 June, I will inaugurate it as a gift for Jakarta, and it will be something new,” Pramono said at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building on Monday. He hopes that the area will eventually resemble Sudirman-Thamrin, which features good pedestrian facilities and wide road lanes. Pramono acknowledged that pedestrian construction in the area is still ongoing. As a result of the construction, roads around the site are indeed obstructed, causing traffic congestion. “For Rasuna Said, this is indeed in the completion stage for the pedestrian. We realise there is a problem. Because it’s impossible to build without any impact,” Pramono explained. Previously, Pramono had targeted the dismantling of monorail poles to be completed in September. However, Pramono is pushing for this to be finished sooner. This is because he wants the Kuningan area to look like Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin before Jakarta’s 499th anniversary on 22 June. Pramono stated that the total budget allocated for this is Rp100 billion. He emphasised that this amount already includes the construction of drains, road improvements, pedestrian facilities, and parks. Currently, the Jakarta Government is focusing on dismantling the monorail poles and tidying up the roads in Rasuna Said. Once everything is completed, the monorail poles in the Senayan area will also be tidied up.
