Pramono Highlights IWAPI's Role in Strengthening Regional Economy

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has highlighted the important role of the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI) as a strategic partner for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in strengthening the regional economy and empowering women entrepreneurs. In his remarks opening the 2026 Regional Working Meeting of the IWAPI DKI Jakarta Regional Board, Pramono expressed hope that IWAPI’s contribution would support Jakarta’s transformation into a global city. “Jakarta is now a global city, a national economic centre, and at the same time makes a significant contribution to the Indonesian economy. Therefore, I ask IWAPI to continue collaborating with the government so that more business opportunities can be utilised by business actors, especially women,” Pramono said at City Hall on Wednesday. Pramono explained that Jakarta’s economy is currently showing a positive trend. The city’s economic growth reached 5.59 percent, with a contribution to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 16.67 percent. Furthermore, the inflation rate remains under control, creating a more conducive business climate. According to him, these achievements open up greater opportunities for the business world to develop. For this reason, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is opening the widest possible space for collaboration with IWAPI, ranging from business development and human resource capacity building to expanding market access. “We are open to cooperation. Collaboration must be realised in concrete programmes so that the benefits are truly felt by the community and business actors,” Pramono said. Pramono added that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also continuously improving the quality of human resources through various training programmes, including foreign language training for prospective workers who will work abroad. This step is expected to increase the competitiveness of Jakarta’s citizens at the global level, while opening up opportunities for further collaboration with business organisations such as IWAPI. In addition to strengthening the economy, Pramono affirmed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of public services to support Jakarta’s transformation into a global city. A number of previously delayed strategic projects are now being completed, ranging from improving transportation connectivity and developing public spaces to establishing international-standard health facilities.
