Pramono Grateful WFH for Civil Servants Set for Fridays, Not Wednesdays—Why?
JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has expressed gratitude that the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) has been set for Fridays rather than Wednesdays.
According to him, if WFH were implemented on Wednesdays, conditions in Jakarta could become even more complicated.
“Of course, I am grateful it is not on Wednesday,” Pramono stated when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
The policy of mandatory public transport use every Wednesday is one of the DKI Provincial Government’s strategies to reduce traffic congestion while encouraging ASN to use public transport.
If WFH were applied on that day, according to Pramono, the public transport policy could be disrupted and would not run optimally.
“Because if it were on Wednesday, Jakarta would also face complications due to it being public transport day,” he said.
Several sectors directly related to public services are still required to work as usual.
Sectors such as health, education, and social assistance are ensured to operate normally because they require direct presence in the field.
“Public services must not be disrupted and cannot work from home,” he emphasised.
Currently, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is formulating technical regulations regarding the implementation of WFH every Friday, including determining which ASN can work from home.
The Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), Pramono said, will ensure that ASN continue to carry out their duties even when working from home.
“Later, BKD will regulate that (supervision of ASN working at home and not travelling),” Pramono stated.
