Jakarta (ANTARA) - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that he is grateful Jakarta is now increasingly safe and comfortable, as evidenced by the interfaith activities held at the end of last year and this year that proceeded well. “I am grateful because almost everything that used to cause tension is now safe and comfortable in Jakarta, starting from the grand Christmas Carol, welcoming Nyepi, Imlek, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and various other religious activities. Alhamdulillah, they all went well,” Pramono said in Jakarta on Saturday. He also extended appreciation to all Jakarta residents, including the Catholic congregation under the Archdiocese of Jakarta, for maintaining the capital as a safe and comfortable place. “Jakarta is now the second safest city in ASEAN after Singapore. This would not be possible without the role of the Archdiocese of Jakarta,” Pramono stated. Pramono mentioned that Jakarta previously ranked sixth and seventh. According to him, one of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s policies supporting this achievement is opening the National Monument (Monas) field for various religious activities, including Christmas, Imlek, Nyepi, and Eid al-Fitr. The organisation of these religious events, he said, demonstrates the strength of tolerance and diversity in public spaces, as well as a symbol of Jakarta’s strength. After Jakarta, the safest cities are successively Bangkok, Vientiane, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Manila.
