JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was delighted to see the development of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction on the Bundaran HI-Kota route.

Pramono conveyed this after accompanying Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on an inspection of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

“Overall, he expressed his joy and satisfaction because he had seen it before. The progress is quite good, and especially the tunnel is quite neat; everything, once again, is being worked on by the sons and daughters of Indonesia,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday.

“We went down to Sawah Besar, then to Harmoni and Duta Merlin. Overall, the progress is now at 59.7 percent,” he stated.

Pramono explained that the MRT Phase 2A is targeted to begin trial operations in mid-2027.

After that, the MRT is targeted to start operating up to Harmoni no later than the end of 2027.

Meanwhile, the MRT line to Kota Tua is targeted to be completed by the end of 2029.

“If everything is finished, the main North-South MRT route spanning 22.2 kilometres will be fully connected in 2029,” he said.

In addition to reviewing the project progress, Pramono also directly observed the construction of stations in Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar, which are the deepest station points, approximately 28 metres underground.

Pramono also appreciated the MRT project workers. Around 3,800 workers involved are all Indonesian labour.

“This proves that the sons and daughters of Indonesia, if given the opportunity, can produce extraordinary work,” he said.
