The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has decided to implement a work-from-home (WFH) system for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this decision is an adjustment to the rules set by the central government. “The DKI Jakarta Government will certainly follow up on the central government’s decision, which has implemented and designated Friday as the time for work from home,” Pramono said when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). This is because every Wednesday is a mandatory day for ASN and Individual Service Providers (PJLP) within the DKI Provincial Government to use public transportation. “Because if it’s Wednesday, Jakarta will also face hassle due to the public transportation day,” Pramono said. Pramono assured that the WFH policy will not disrupt public services. Several sectors that directly interact with the public are still required to work from offices or in the field. He emphasised that health services, social assistance, and education cannot be done from home. Therefore, employees in those sectors will continue working as usual. He gave an example of health facilities, including 44 community health centres, 292 auxiliary community health centres, and 31 hospitals under the DKI Provincial Government, which will operate normally and not implement WFH. “Public services must not be disrupted and must not work from home,” Pramono said. In addition, the government will also implement supporting regulations to make this policy effective. One of them is a ban on the use of private vehicles during WFH to encourage ASN to continue using public transportation. “All Jakarta ASN are free (for public transportation). And that is what we will use as a reference,” Pramono said. Regarding supervision, the Regional Personnel Agency (BKD) will regulate the control mechanism so that ASN still carry out WFH according to the provisions and do not misuse the policy. “Coincidentally, we had a meeting about this today at 9.30,” he concluded.
