Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has emphasised that the Jakarta Provincial Government will only implement fare adjustments for Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek, including Mikrotrans and Jaklingko services.

“The fares that will undergo adjustment are those for Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek, including Mikrotrans and Jaklingko. They belong to the same group, so they will be regulated together. The specific figures will be announced, but the changes will take effect from 1 January,” Pramono stated at City Hall on Wednesday.

Pramono explained that the fare adjustments do not include MRT and LRT Jakarta services.

Previously, Pramono indicated plans to reduce transport subsidies for citizens deemed capable of paying, redirecting those funds to those in greater need. This will be achieved by increasing the number of groups eligible for the Free Service Card (KLG) from 15 to 21 groups.

“In the near future, the Jakarta Provincial Government will decide to expand the free travel list from 15 groups to 21 groups. However, for groups deemed capable, we will reduce their subsidies. While subsidies remain very high, we will be reducing them for certain segments,” Pramono explained.

Furthermore, Pramono noted that the fare adjustments for public transport in the capital, ranging from Transjakarta to Transjabodetabek, are necessary because the Jakarta government has not adjusted fares for over 20 years.

Pramono announced that the new fare structure will come into effect on 1 January 2027. However, he declined to disclose the exact new rates at this time.
