Pramono expresses gratitude for viral video on DKI's Environmental Agency, uses it for correction

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has expressed gratitude for the viral video showing a waste transport vehicle from the Environmental Agency (DLH) allegedly dumping its load into the Pesanggrahan River area at Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery, South Jakarta. Pramono considers the virality of the video as enabling him to promptly make decisions to eliminate temporary waste storage sites. “Regarding the Pesanggrahan incident yesterday, to be honest, I am thankful rather than saddened, no. I am very thankful. Because of that, I finally decided that there should no longer be temporary storage sites like that,” Pramono said when met in Central Jakarta on Friday. Pramono views temporary waste disposal sites like the one in the video as inefficient. Additionally, according to him, managing such TPS is quite difficult and costly. Therefore, he requests that there be no more storage sites like the one in the video. Previously, the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) assured that there was no waste dumping activity into the Pesanggrahan River in the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery area, based on the viral video on social media Threads. “The activity of the transport vehicle (dump pickup) seen in the post is part of the official operations for handling water body waste, not dumping into the river,” said the Head of the Water Body Waste Handling Unit (UPSBA) of DKI Jakarta DLH, Dadang Cahya Rusdiana. Dadang explained that based on field investigations, the location in question is an official temporary storage point or emplacement owned by UPSBA in the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery area, specifically in a designated block. Therefore, the activity shown is the official temporary storage process for waste from water bodies, and all operations at the site are well-controlled with one heavy equipment unit in place and daily routine transport to the Perintis emplacement. “That point serves as a transit location for waste transported from rivers and reservoirs in the Pesanggrahan Subdistrict and Kebayoran Lama Subdistrict,” he said. Furthermore, the waste is then transferred using small tipper trucks to the Perintis emplacement for further sorting by officers. After the sorting process, residual waste is transported using large trucks with heavy equipment assistance before being sent to the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site for further processing.
