Pramono ensures RDF Rorotan commences full operations
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has assured that the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facility in Rorotan, North Jakarta, will commence full operations imminently.
However, he was unable to provide specific timelines and implementation details.
“We will operate the RDF Rorotan facility, and finalisation is currently underway for not just commissioning but full operations,” said Pramono when encountered in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.
Furthermore, he acknowledged that he had listened to community feedback regarding the facility’s operation.
To address these concerns, Pramono stated that the RDF Rorotan facility will process only 1,000 tonnes of waste per day, preventing odour and negative environmental impacts.
“Indeed, in accordance with the feedback and suggestions from the Rorotan community, the capacity is not as originally planned. There has been a revision to prevent odour and also to avoid environmental impacts on residents in the surrounding area,” Pramono explained.
The Jakarta provincial government, together with Danantara and the central government, will soon make decisions regarding three waste-to-energy power plants (PLTSa), one of which is in Bantargebang.
Additionally, he urged the public to adopt the habit of sorting waste at home. A gubernatorial regulation on this matter will also be drawn up soon to ensure it is binding.
Pramono requested that the community sort waste into four categories: biodegradable waste that can be processed into compost; recyclable waste such as plastic, paper, and metal, which can be sent to waste banks; hazardous and toxic waste (B3); and residual waste that cannot be processed further.
