Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, is preparing the LPDP Jakarta scholarship programme. Pramono stated that Betawi children will be one of the priorities for recipients of the programme.

Pramono said the DKI Provincial Government is currently finalising a cooperation scheme with the central government to realise this programme soon. He said Jakarta cannot run this programme alone without collaboration.

“We have met several times with the central LPDP and it is now being formulated. Jakarta will collaborate with the LPDP of the Ministry of Finance,” said Pramono at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026).

Pramono said the initial target of the LPDP Jakarta programme is to send around 100 students to continue their education to higher levels, including abroad.

“In the first term, we will send approximately 100 students,” he stated.

In addition, Pramono ensured that part of the quota for this scholarship will be allocated to Betawi children. This step, he said, is taken as a form of strengthening cultural identity in accordance with Law No. 2 of 2024.

“Some will be given to Betawi children, so they have the opportunity to study as high as possible, including abroad,” he explained.

However, Pramono said this programme remains based on achievement. Pramono hopes that scholarship recipients can compete competitively and become an outstanding generation that can contribute to Jakarta’s progress.

“The most important thing is to be competitive. We want to produce outstanding Betawi generations,” he said.

Besides the LPDP Jakarta scholarship, the DKI Provincial Government also has the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and Jakarta Outstanding Student Card (KJMU) programmes, which are now not only for undergraduate (S1) level but can also be used up to S2 and S3.
