Pramono Encourages "Mudik to Jakarta", Promises Hotel and Mall Discounts

JAKARTA — The Jakarta Provincial Government is encouraging residents to celebrate Eid in the capital through the “mudik ke Jakarta” (returning to Jakarta) concept within the Jakarta Ramadan Festival 2026.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this theme aims to ensure the public remains active in Jakarta whilst maintaining economic circulation during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.

“The primary theme is mudik ke Jakarta,” said Pramono at the Bundaran HI area in Central Jakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Through this policy, hotels and shopping centres are expected to offer significant discounts to the public.

“We will provide tax incentive facilities for shopping centres, hotels and the like, so they can subsequently offer significant discounts,” he said.

The policy is also intended to prevent the public from having to travel outside the city or abroad during the Eid holiday.

“Rather than dealing with traffic congestion or shopping abroad and the like, it is better to stay in Jakarta. Jakarta provides everything,” said Pramono.

The Jakarta Ramadan Festival 2026 runs from today until 31 March 2026.

A number of activities have been prepared, including the Jakarta Light Festival and Jakarta Festive Wonders.

“One hundred and one shopping centres will participate in Jakarta Festive Wonder with shopping discounts,” said Pramono.
