Pramono Discusses Kalbar's Role: Abundant Natural Resources Flow to the Centre

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the role of West Kalimantan Province in the Republic of Indonesia is very significant. Pramono noted that many natural resources from West Kalimantan flow to the centre.

This was expressed by Pramono while attending the inauguration of the West Kalimantan Family Association (IKKB) management in the Cempaka Putih area, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (3/5/2026). Also present at this event were the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs as well as a member of the IKKB Board of Trustees, Maman Abdurrahman, the Chairman of the IKKB Board of Trustees and General Chairman of the Hanura Party, Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO), and the Governor of West Kalimantan, Ria Norsan.

“I know that West Kalimantan has a very significant role for this nation now because a lot of natural resources flow to the centre,” Pramono said in his speech.

Pramono also mentioned that West Kalimantan serves as an example in diversity. According to him, this can be seen from the annual Chinese New Year celebrations held in Singkawang.

“The diversity of West Kalimantan’s residents has actually provided an example from time to time, including the largest Chinese New Year celebration in Singkawang, but I’m sure that yesterday’s Chinese New Year implementation in Jakarta is now no less than in Singkawang,” he said.

Pramono stated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to collaborate with IKKB and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government. One form of collaboration is the construction of a building for IKKB.

“I just whispered with Bang OSO and also the Governor of West Kalimantan, in Jakarta we are willing to cooperate, to collaborate to advance the IKKB in Jakarta. Even earlier, I was debating with Pak OSO; Bang OSO asked me to provide the land, he would build the building for IKKB. I said ‘Bang OSO provides the land, I’ll build the building’,” he said.

The Chairman of the IKKB Board of Trustees, Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO), then welcomed Pramono’s proposal. He stated that the essence of the proposal is collaboration between DKI Jakarta and West Kalimantan.

“IKKB finds the land or the Governor of DKI finds the land, it’s the same. The important thing is collaboration between the Governor of West Kalimantan and the Governor of DKI. And that’s very good,” said OSO.

Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Maman Abdurrahman also re-emphasised the collaboration between DKI Jakarta and West Kalimantan. He hopes that the people of West Kalimantan can feel the benefits of that collaboration.

“So we’re very happy to be able to gather together, and also maintain relations with Pak Gub. The goal is to maintain relations so that there is collaboration and of course, in the end, it can provide benefits for all the people of West Kalimantan in Jakarta and also our hometown of West Kalimantan. So the spirit is maintaining relations, that’s it,” said Maman.
