Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has demanded that the individuals responsible for vandalising the lift at the Lenteng Agung footbridge in South Jakarta by cutting its cables be dealt with firmly. “Whoever did this, I have asked for strict action to be taken. And if necessary, if they happen to be a public transport user, for example, I have asked for them to be blacklisted so they cannot use public transport in Jakarta,” Pramono said in Central Jakarta on Wednesday. He added that he has instructed the relevant ranks to investigate the matter immediately. He also stressed that the Jakarta provincial government has no tolerance for vandals. The act of vandalism occurred on Tuesday (2/6). The Head of Data and Information at the Jakarta Road Agency, Siti Dinarwenny, stated that a field inspection found several lift electrical cable networks had been cut, making the facility unusable by the public. She said the agency is currently repairing the lift’s electrical system at the footbridge. “The Road Agency is currently handling and carrying out repairs; it is hoped the lift will be fully operational again soon,” said Wenny. She also apologised because the Lenteng Agung footbridge lift cannot operate temporarily due to damage to the electrical system caused by the act of vandalism.
