“I am convinced that building Jakarta cannot be done alone. Waste is one of the issues. Therefore, today, in accordance with the Governor’s Instruction, we will hold a movement for sorting waste,” said Pramono in his speech at the Declaration of the Waste Sorting Movement event on Jalan Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Sunday (10/5/2026). Pramono stated that this movement will be carried out seriously. He hopes the waste problem can be resolved soon. “Hopefully, the waste sorting issue, together with field leaders, we carry it out earnestly and seriously as a new movement for Jakarta to sort waste,” he said. Pramono also touched on the matter of waste piling up at the TPST (Integrated Waste Processing Site) Bantargebang. Pramono recounted that he and Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), who was also present at the declaration site, hope the waste issue in Bantargebang can be resolved soon. “And the hope is that hopefully the waste problem in Jakarta, which from time to time has never been resolved, can be resolved soon,” said Pramono. “I still remember, coincidentally both of them are my friends, when Mr Coordinating Minister for Food first met me about the Bantargebang matter. He whispered to me like this, calling me ‘Mas Pram’. ‘Mas Pram, how come Bantargebang can’t be resolved, Mas?’ And Bang Doel, bismillah, let’s implement it. In our era, the Bantargebang matter must be finished,” he continued. Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will begin implementing Governor’s Instruction (Ingub) Number 5 of 2026 regarding waste sorting on 10 May 2026. Pramono stated that the implementation of this Ingub is an initial step to encourage changes in public behaviour in managing waste from the source. “Tomorrow, on the 10th, we will start implementing the Ingub that I signed for waste sorting,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (6/5).”
