Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that his administration is considering the continuation of the LRT Jakarta construction for the Manggarai-Dukuh Atas route.

Pramono said that the LRT route from Velodrome to Ancol has already been approved for immediate construction. However, his team is also contemplating the development of the Manggarai-Dukuh Atas loop.

“If Velodrome to Ancol has been approved, it just needs to be built. But indeed, now internally at City Hall, including myself, we are still considering whether from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas to complete the overall loop,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday.

According to Pramono, one of the considerations for building the Manggarai-Dukuh Atas route is the existence of adequate transportation services to serve that corridor, such as the KRL Commuter Line and Transjakarta.

“There is also input from KAI because indeed from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, there are already a lot of KRL trains. And that will already be very convenient,” Pramono explained.

Nevertheless, Pramono assessed that the construction of the new route needs to be calculated carefully, especially in terms of budget efficiency and potential benefits for the public.

Pramono mentioned that discussions regarding the continuation of the LRT Jakarta project will be decided soon.

“We are calculating the budget and so on. It will be decided soon. It has already been discussed twice, this will be the third time,” Pramono revealed.

To date, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is still constructing LRT Jakarta Phase 1B.

This route spans 6.4 kilometres with five stations, namely Pemuda Rawamangun Station, Pramuka BPKP Station, Pasar Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.

So far, six LRT stations have been operational with a length of 5.2 kilometres in Phase 1, namely Pegangsaan Dua Station, North Boulevard Station, South Boulevard Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.

If Phase 1B is completed, LRT Jakarta will have a route length of 12.2 kilometres with 11 stations from Pegangsaan Dua Station to Manggarai Station.
