Pramono confirms Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route is complete
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has confirmed that construction of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route is 100 per cent complete and is awaiting inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto.
“Earlier I, together with the City Hall leadership, carried out a final inspection before the inauguration. We saw and also received reports that overall, the construction or completion of this LRT, relating to the tracks and the elevated line, is already 100 per cent complete,” Pramono said after an inspection at Manggarai LRT Station on Monday.
He said the stage currently still under way is testing by the central government through the Ministry of Transportation.
Pramono said the Jakarta Provincial Government has proposed that the inauguration of the Jakarta LRT take place on 26 August 2026. However, the timing will still follow President Prabowo’s agenda.
According to him, the schedule may still change because President Prabowo also has an agenda to handle the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara and forest fires in Kalimantan.
Pramono also estimates that the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line will be able to carry up to 80,000 passengers in the initial operational phase.
That figure is expected to increase if construction of the line is continued to Dukuh Atas. After the route is inaugurated, Pramono confirmed that his administration will immediately continue construction of the Jakarta LRT.
“We will immediately continue from Velodrome to Whoosh, then from Kelapa Gading to JIS,” he explained.
If this is realised, the LRT managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government will become the main backbone of transportation in East Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, and will eventually end in Central Jakarta.
