Pramono Confirms Jakarta's LRT Will Be Extended to Dukuh Atas, Jakpro Outlines Preparations
The Jakarta Provincial Government has decided to extend the LRT Jakarta line to Dukuh Atas. The construction of the new section will be undertaken after the Phase 1B project of the Velodrome–Manggarai route is completed. Jakartas President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Iwan Takwin said his company supports the plan to extend the LRT Jakarta from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. He described the move as important to strengthen intermodal transport integration while supporting Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in the capital.
‘The development of LRT Jakarta is not merely about building a new transport corridor; it is also a key component in shaping a future urban mobility ecosystem for Jakarta,’ Iwan said in a statement on Thursday (21 May 2026).
He said the LRT Jakarta master plan has been designed with an emphasis on connectivity with major public transport modes such as MRT Jakarta, TransJakarta, KRL Commuter Line, and the Airport Rail. The Manggarai and Dukuh Atas corridors were chosen because they play a strategic role as mobility hubs for Jakarta and the Jabodetabek agglomeration.
‘The core concept of this master plan is to build transport and area integration through a TOD approach. Therefore, the LRT Jakarta route is directed toward strategic nodes such as Manggarai and Dukuh Atas so that people can transfer modes quickly and conveniently,’ he said.
He views strengthened public transport connectivity as an essential foundation for more efficient, modern, and sustainable urban mobility in Jakarta.
Beyond supporting mobility, the development of the LRT Jakarta network is also believed to have a multiplier effect on the city’s economic growth. According to Iwan, LRT stations are projected to become new economic growth centres.
‘Each station point will generate new economic spillovers. Increased activity will create business opportunities, drive local economies, and directly impact the welfare of residents around the transport corridors,’ he said.
He added that Jakpro is optimistic that stronger public transport will encourage a shift from private vehicles to mass transit, contributing to congestion reduction and lower carbon emissions towards Jakarta Net Zero Emission targets.
It is known that Jakpro is currently building Phase 1B of the LRT Jakarta, Velodrome–Manggarai. By the first week of May 2026, progress on that project had reached 92.67%.
The project is expected to be completed and become operational in August 2026.
Earlier, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he had decided to proceed with the LRT Jakarta extension from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. The decision was based on input from several parties, including considerations of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s fiscal capacity.
‘For the LRT, the decision is to extend from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, to complete one line from Velodrome to Dukuh Atas,’ Pramono said at the Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (20 May 2026).
With the additional track, LRT Jakarta would have a total length of 14.2 kilometres with 12 stations from Pegangsaan Dua, Kelapa Gading, to Dukuh Atas.
The estimated budget to connect the Manggarai–Dukuh Atas section is Rp 2.7 trillion.
