Pramono Confirms Bus Stops and CCTV Damaged by Crowd Have Been Repaired

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that a number of public facilities damaged by a mob in Jakarta have been repaired. The facilities include bus shelters and CCTV cameras.

Pramono said repairs were carried out immediately after damage occurred to several public facilities. He assured that the facilities are now back to normal and no longer disrupting public activities.

“I have ordered immediate repairs because I do not want anyone to be inconvenienced,” Pramono said at Kolese Kanisius, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (29/8/2026).

Pramono, together with Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri and Jakarta Military Commander Lieutenant General TNI Deddy Suryadi, immediately carried out clean-up operations after the crowd dispersed. The move was taken so that public activities could return to normal.

“Last night, I, the Police Chief, the Military Commander, and all relevant stakeholders, including the mayors, immediately carried out clean-up efforts,” he said.

According to Pramono, traffic conditions on Friday morning (28/8) had already returned to normal. The former Cabinet Secretary also expressed hope that public activities over the weekend, including the car free day (CFD), could proceed as usual.

“That is why traffic returned to normal yesterday. And today activities are also normal,” he said.

Pramono stressed that the government respects the public’s right to express their aspirations through demonstrations. However, he urged that protests be conducted in an orderly manner without damaging public facilities.

“Demonstrations are protected by law. As Governor of Jakarta, I have repeatedly said please go ahead, but do not damage public infrastructure,” he said.

The senior PDIP politician reminded that damage to public facilities ultimately harms the public. Therefore, Pramono urged the crowd not to engage in anarchic actions or disrupt public order.

“If they are damaged, who suffers? The public themselves suffer,” he said.

“What is clear is that no public activities have been disrupted because everything, including bus shelters, CCTV, and so on, has now returned to normal. So nothing is disrupted. I only ask that we all take care of Jakarta,” he added.
