Pramono Confident Kanye West Concert Will Drive Rp 150 Billion Economic Boost to Jakarta
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is confident that the Kanye West concert in Jakarta could stimulate economic circulation by up to Rp 150 billion. This is driven by the large number of spectators arriving from outside the Jakarta Special Capital Region.
Pramono stated that the Kanye West concert is being held in conjunction with the Jakarta Running Festival (JRF), which spans two days. He estimates that the economic impact from this series of events will exceed Rp 150 billion.
“In my view, it will be more than Rp 150 billion,” Pramono said at City Hall, Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026).
Pramono noted that enthusiasm for the Kanye West concert is quite high. In fact, according to him, almost 50 per cent of the concert’s audience originates from outside Jakarta.
“What is even more extraordinary is that almost 50 per cent of the people attending this Ye concert are coming from outside [the city],” he remarked.
He explained that the concert is one of the major events for the Southeast Asia and Oceania regions being held in Jakarta. This status is believed to encourage the arrival of spectators from other regions.
“Because this is a concert that is the only one of its kind in Jakarta for the Southeast Asia and Oceania regions. Therefore, the enthusiasm is quite incredibly high,” he explained.
Pramono then compared the potential economic impact of the JRF and the Kanye West concert to several music events previously held in Jakarta. He noted that the direct economic circulation from The Weeknd’s two-day concert and the three-day Pestapora festival reached approximately Rp 250 billion.
He believes that massive economic circulation will also occur during the Kanye West concert. The American rapper is scheduled to perform at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on 24 October.
“Given the size, the scale, and the number of people involved and participating, compared to The Weeknd and Pestapora, I believe [the Kanye West concert] is not inferior,” Pramono concluded.
