Jakarta — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has expressed confidence that curly chilli prices in the capital will return to normal within one to two weeks. The price of curly chillies has risen due to diminished supply.

“I am confident that within one to two weeks, chilli prices in Jakarta will be able to return to normal,” Pramono told reporters at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Pramono explained that the increase in curly chilli prices was caused by a decline in supply from Java and South Sulawesi as a result of heavy rainfall.

“Supply from both Java and South Sulawesi has decreased in quantity because of rain. The high rainfall has caused the decline,” he said.

To address the situation, Pramono stated that his administration had prepared an intervention measure by purchasing chillies from suppliers and distributing them to retailers and traders.

“We will purchase chillies and then sell them to retailers or traders, providing a margin of Rp5,000 so that prices remain controlled,” Pramono said.

“I am confident that through this approach, we will be able to control inflation in Jakarta, and we have already begun implementing this,” he concluded.
