The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has allowed holiday commuters to deposit their personal vehicles at all provincial government offices during the 2026 Lebaran mudik period. This was directly stated by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo.

“Of course, the DKI Jakarta Government will permit holiday commuters to deposit their vehicles, especially motorcycles, at offices owned by the DKI Jakarta Government,” said Pramono in the Pondok Rangon area, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3), as reported by Antara.

These offices include those of village heads, district heads, and mayoral offices spread across the DKI Jakarta region.

Pramono stated that this policy is intended to provide a sense of security and comfort for residents leaving their vehicles behind when returning to their hometowns for Lebaran 2026.

Regarding this year’s Lebaran mudik, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also implemented a free mudik programme on Tuesday (17/3). A total of 744 buses were dispatched to 20 cities in six provinces under the programme.

“Including yesterday when we organised the free mudik, with approximately 35,000 participants, 744 buses,” said Pramono.

According to data from the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, exactly 35,012 passengers participated in the free mudik and return programme for 2026, with a total of 744 bus units prepared.

The free mudik programme from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is supported by a corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme from several DKI Jakarta regional-owned enterprises (BUMD).

In addition to buses, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also provides facilities for transporting motorcycles using trucks.

As of Tuesday, around 900 motorcycles have been transported to the hometowns of their owners.

The majority of mudik participants in the motorcycle transport programme have now arrived safely at their respective hometowns.

“Alhamdulillah, those who brought motorcycles had their bikes placed on trucks and they were inside the trucks. Now, most of them are already in their hometowns, and it has gone well and safely,” said Pramono.

Pramono explained that this step was taken by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government because long-distance travel by motorcycle poses a high risk of fatigue for mudik participants.
