Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has committed to undertaking serious and comprehensive reforms to Jakarta’s waste management system. He is calling on all Jakarta residents to participate in the Waste Sorting from Source movement by sorting waste into four categories.

“I am Pramono Anung, Governor of Jakarta, representing the Jakarta Government. I am committed to implementing serious and fundamental reforms to Jakarta’s waste management system,” Pramono stated on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

“I call on all Jakarta residents to participate in the Waste Sorting from Source movement. Communities must sort waste into four categories,” he said.

First, biodegradable waste that can be processed into compost. Second, recyclable waste such as plastics, paper, and metals, which can be channelled to waste banks.

“Third, hazardous and toxic waste (B3). Fourth, residual waste that cannot be processed further,” he explained.

Pramono called on all Jakarta residents to make waste sorting a daily habit. “I believe that if we move together, we can achieve significant change,” he concluded.
