Pramono Calls for Identification of CCTV Vandals During DPR Protest
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung monitored the demonstration that took place in Jakarta until the early hours of the morning. Pramono also highlighted the damage to a number of CCTV cameras during the protest.
Pramono said he monitored the situation together with Jakarta Military Commander Lieutenant General Deddy Suryadi, Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, and Jakarta State Intelligence Agency Head Major General Tjahjono Prasetyanto on Thursday night (27/8) until Friday (28/8) early morning. He also coordinated with regional apparatus organisations (OPD) of the Jakarta Provincial Government.
“Last night we monitored together with the Military Commander, the Police Chief, and the State Intelligence Agency Head the events on the ground, and I also coordinated with all Jakarta OPD ranks responsible for yesterday’s actions,” Pramono told reporters in the Pancoran area, South Jakarta, on Friday (28/8/2026).
Pramono stated that expressing aspirations is guaranteed in a democratic country, but he urged all parties to comply with regulations and maintain order. He stressed that anarchic actions and vandalism cannot be justified.
“As a democratic country, demonstrations are permitted and allowed, as long as procedures are followed. But if people then commit vandalism, anarchy, and so on, certainly no member of society will support that,” he said.
Regarding the CCTV damage, Pramono asked the Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) to study the incident and identify the perpetrators.
“Regarding the CCTV damage, I will certainly ask the Head of Diskominfotik to study who did it and what their purpose was,” he said.
He said the Jakarta Provincial Government will take further action if the vandals are successfully identified. Pramono stressed that damaging public facilities can harm the public.
“If they can be detected, we will certainly take further action because this is not permitted at all,” he asserted.
Pramono also said that Jakarta Provincial Government personnel immediately moved to clean up the locations after the protest ended. He said the protest on Thursday night only finished at around 00.30–01.30 WIB.
“As soon as the protest ended last night at around half past twelve, half past one, if you look at the field, the orange troops, green troops, and the troops owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government immediately cleaned it up,” he said.
According to Pramono, the clean-up meant that road conditions in several locations returned to normal by morning. “That is why in the morning everything was relatively back to normal,” he added.
