JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is encouraging BUMDs not to limit themselves to the domestic market. He is urging companies owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government to start expanding boldly and competing at a wider level.

“Not becoming local players, excelling only at home, but venturing out to compete, including for example Bank Jakarta, Pasar Jaya, Dharma Jaya, and others, and I am confident that this will also bring benefits to Jakarta,” said Pramono at the BUMD Leaders Forum in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).

Pramono assesses that BUMDs must become pillars of Jakarta’s economy amid global uncertainties. He also reminds of the potential impact of El Niño expected to occur from April to September.

“Therefore, I also ask them to prepare themselves. In this way, hopefully the consolidation of BUMDs and building a more open, transparent corporate culture, managed professionally,” said Pramono.

The forum discussed several strategic issues, from financing synergy, asset optimisation, to strengthening investment capacity. Head of the Jakarta Provincial BUMD Development Agency, Syaefuloh Hidayat, said the main focus is directed at improving competitiveness and company health.

“The first topic is accelerating investment performance and financial independence through creative financing and financing synergy. For the First Quarter of 2026, a credit facility from Bank Jakarta has been signed for three BUMDs,” said Syaefuloh.

In addition, the forum also highlighted strengthening project guarantees through Jamkrida Jakarta as well as optimising BUMD credit. Discussions also covered the utilisation of strategic assets as new revenue sources.

Asset development is directed towards the property sector such as hotels, mixed-use housing, to park and ride. Supporting infrastructure such as wastewater treatment and food distribution is also included in the business strengthening plan.

As a closing, a credit agreement was signed between PAM Jaya and Bank Jakarta. Through this collaboration, BUMDs are expected to be able to transform into more professional entities and become engines of Jakarta’s economic growth.
