Pramono Bans Use of Official Cars for Lebaran Mudik
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, has stated that government vehicles owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government must not be used for Mudik Lebaran. ‘I do not permit any use of official cars for Mudik,’ Pramono said when approached in Central Jakarta on Saturday. He noted that anyone who violates this rule will face severe sanctions. ‘Anyone who breaches this regulation will face heavy penalties. So, for the official cars of the DKI Jakarta civil service, use is not allowed at all,’ he added. The use of official vehicles (red-plate) for Mudik Lebaran is explicitly prohibited by the government, including the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), because it constitutes a misuse of state assets for personal gain. The regulation appears in Ministerial Regulation on Public Service Empowerment No: PER/87/M. PAN/8/2005, which states that official vehicles are for official duties/operations only. The ban applies to all Civil Servants (ASN) and violators can face disciplinary sanctions ranging from a verbal warning, a written warning, a postponement of promotion, to dismissal with honour not at the employee’s own request, depending on the severity of the violation.
