Pramono Bans Subordinates From Using Official Cars for Mudik, Heavy Sanctions Imposed
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has banned all staff within the provincial government from using official cars for mudik ahead of Lebaran 2026. He emphasised that he has never granted any permission for the use of official vehicles for personal purposes, including mudik. ‘Regarding the use of official cars for mudik, I do not permit it,’ he told reporters at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (7/3). Pramono even said he has prepared heavy sanctions for provincial employees found using official cars during Eid al-Fitr. ‘Whoever violates this will be subject to severe sanctions. So official cars for DKI Jakarta officials are not allowed at all,’ he asserted.
Earlier, Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the peak of mudik for Lebaran 2026 is expected to occur in two waves in mid-March. He conveyed this at a cross-ministerial coordination meeting of Ketupat Operation 2026 at the Police Science College, South Jakarta, on Monday (2/3). He said the estimate came from the Traffic Directorate’s survey in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation, and by comparing with 2025 mudik figures. ‘The predicted peak of mudik (the first) is likely to occur on March 14-15,’ he said. After the first return period, the government will also implement a Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy on March 16-17, so a second peak is expected on March 18-19.
