Pramono bans padel courts operating without PBG permit

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has stressed that his administration prohibits the operation of padel courts that do not hold a permit in the form of a Building Approval (PBG).

“As long as the padel court does not obtain a permit or PBG, the Jakarta Provincial Government will certainly not grant further permission for it to operate,” Pramono said in South Jakarta on Friday.

Pramono also emphasised that he would act fairly even if the padel court is managed by a former civil servant (ASN) at Jakarta City Hall.

“Including several managed by former City Hall civil servants. As Governor of Jakarta, I must of course be fair in ensuring that the rules apply to everyone. They do not apply only to the public but to anyone,” Pramono stressed.

For this reason, Pramono said his administration will take enforcement action against padel courts that do not have a PBG permit.

Previously, the West Jakarta Cipta Karya, Tata Ruang dan Pertanahan (CKTRP) sub-department was known to have taken firm action against a padel court building in RW 10, Meruya Utara Urban Village, Kembangan, which was being constructed on land owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

The West Jakarta CKTRP sub-department re-sealed the padel court building.

Officers installed a red banner stating that the building was subject to a permanent stop-work order (sealed) along with a CKTRP line.

Acting Head of the West Jakarta CKTRP sub-department Ridwan Arafah explained that in addition to re-sealing, his office also summoned the owner of the padel building regarding the permit application (PBG).

This was done following a viral social media post highlighting a Jakarta Provincial Government asset sign at the location of the building under construction.

The padel court building is known to be located within a residential complex. On Wednesday (26/8), several workers were still seen carrying out brick-laying activities.

Adjacent to the building wall stands a sign stating that the land used belongs to the Jakarta Provincial Government.
