Pramono Backs BNN's Full-Scale Drug Crackdown in Kampung Bahari

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has expressed full support for the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in its efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in Kampung Bahari, North Jakarta. Pramono also highlighted the resistance faced by officers from the dealers during the raid.

“The Jakarta Provincial Government, in matters relating to narcotics, fully supports whatever actions are taken by law enforcement, especially the BNN,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (13/8).

He emphasized that the issue of narcotics must be addressed and prevented collectively. Pramono reminded the public to avoid getting involved in drug abuse or trafficking.

“This serves as a lesson for everyone not to get caught up or involved in narcotics issues, which will certainly bring no good in the future,” he stated.

Previously, BNN officers and police raided a drug network in Kampung Bahari, North Jakarta. The suspected drug lord, identified by the initials MR, and several of his loyalists were arrested during the operation.

“MR, the drug boss, was arrested as he was leaving his hideout; he was caught in the vicinity of Kampung Bahari,” said BNN Director of Enforcement and Pursuit, Brigadier General Roy Hardy Siahaan.

The boss, identified as MR, was arrested on Thursday morning after officers conducted surveillance. During the arrest, officers seized a quantity of narcotics as evidence.

BNN officers subsequently brought MR back into Kampung Bahari to further the investigation. MR was asked to point out the location where the drugs were stored.

However, this effort was met with resistance from a number of individuals believed to be MR’s loyalists. They attacked the officers by throwing stones and firecrackers.
