Pramono Assures Continued Office Work Despite WFH Policy, Compares Himself to Journalists
JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has assured that he will continue working as usual and will not implement the work-from-home (WFH) policy enacted by the central government.
He even likened his situation to that of journalists, who cannot work from home, despite the WFH policy being introduced as a measure to save fuel oil (BBM).
“A portion, including us (officials in the DKI Provincial Government environment), are not subject to work from home; we continue working as usual. Including journalists, there is no work from home,” Pramono stated at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Several officials and public service sectors are assured to continue working from the office or in the field.
“There are some exceptions not included in the work from home, for example, mid-level and entry-level officials, as well as matters related to public services such as Satpol PP, Transportation Agency, Health Agency, Gulkarmat, and Fire Department; they will continue to carry out their duties as usual,” he said.
Meanwhile, the WFH policy is only applied to administrative work.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will regulate the proportion of civil servants working from home, as there are no detailed limits from the central government.
Pramono stated that they have set a WFH range of up to 50 percent.
This regulation will later be formalised in a Governor’s decree as the official guideline for implementing WFH within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government environment.
Pramono added that the Provincial Government is currently refining the technical rules for implementing WFH to avoid disrupting government performance or public services.
He emphasised that, despite the WFH policy, government activities must continue normally.
“The important thing is that services to the public are not disrupted,” he said.
