Pramono assures basic services maintained amid budget efficiency
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has affirmed the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to continuing development across various sectors, including health, education, social protection and transport, despite facing budget efficiency measures.
Pramono said the continuity of basic public services is a primary concern for the Jakarta administration so that development can proceed while also reducing social inequality.
“I conveyed several points, among them matters relating to how Jakarta, which is currently developing, can resolve its transport issues, health problems, education, and of course social issues,” Pramono said in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
In the education sector, Pramono assured the continuation of a number of assistance programmes for the public, including the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU), and the free private school programme for those in need.
According to him, these programmes are part of the government’s efforts to ensure the public continues to have access to education despite budget limitations.
These programmes include the dismantling of monorail pillars, the revitalisation of the Rasuna Said area, the construction of a connecting bridge between Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and Ancol, and the development of an international hospital on the former Sumber Waras land.
“So Sumber Waras will become an international hospital, and I have conveyed this to the central government. Hopefully we can hold the groundbreaking in the coming months,” he said.
In the transport sector, the Jakarta administration continues to expand access and improve integrated public transport connectivity.
Pramono said the construction of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route has been completed and is scheduled to be inaugurated on 26 August 2026.
After that, the Jakarta LRT development will be extended to Dukuh Atas to broaden public transport coverage and facilitate public mobility.
Given these conditions, he encouraged the public to increase the use of public transport to support the reduction of congestion and air pollution in Jakarta.
Pramono also said the Jakarta administration will utilise creative financing schemes to continue a number of development projects without overburdening the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), including utilising funds from additional contribution obligations (KLB).
In addition to physical development and basic services, Pramono expressed appreciation for public involvement in supporting environmental programmes, particularly the waste sorting at source movement.
“I am grateful that the Reverend earlier conveyed that HKBP fully supports and endorses this waste sorting initiative,” he said.
