Pramono Assures ASN WFH Every Friday Will Not Disrupt Public Services in Jakarta
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has officially implemented a work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung assured that this policy will not disrupt the public services sector. “Public services must not be disrupted and cannot involve work from home. For example, matters related to health, social assistance, and education that require presence in the field,” Pramono stated when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). This is because such services cannot be replaced remotely. He cited health facilities such as 44 puskesmas, 292 puskesmas pembantu, and 31 hospitals under the Pemprov DKI Jakarta, which will continue to operate normally. “Because they cannot be delegated. However, for the department itself, it is allowed, as that concerns administration,” he added. Besides health, other sectors such as education and social services are also ensured to run normally despite the ASN WFH policy on Fridays. The Pemprov DKI Jakarta is currently formulating technical regulations regarding ASN permitted to carry out WFH every Friday. Pramono stated that this policy will also be complemented by several supporting regulations to ensure it runs effectively and is not misused. One of them is the restriction on private vehicle use by ASN during WFH. This aims to continue encouraging the use of public transportation in Jakarta. “So that they truly continue to use public transportation. Why? Because all Jakarta ASN have free access, and that is what we will use as a benchmark,” Pramono said. Previously, the central government established a WFH policy for ASN one day per week, namely every Friday.
