Pramono Asks Transport Agency to Partner with Police to Clear 'Pak Ogah' from Protocol Roads

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has requested the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) to partner with the Metro Jaya Police to clear ‘Pak Ogah’ from a number of roads, particularly protocol roads. The move is intended to make traffic in the capital more orderly, safe, and comfortable for the public.

‘Pak Ogah’ is a colloquial term for illegal, self-appointed traffic marshals who often direct vehicles at intersections in exchange for tips. Pramono stated that the crackdown is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to improve transport and road space management. He emphasised that traffic control should be conducted by authorised officers.

The Governor expressed hope that collaboration between the Transportation Agency and the Metro Jaya Police would lead to better traffic conditions. He also inaugurated a shelter for online motorcycle taxis in the Thamrin-Bundaran HI area, aiming to organise pick-up and drop-off points for ride-hailing services and reduce congestion on protocol roads.

Pramono has asked the Transportation Agency to increase the number of such shelters across Jakarta through cooperation with building managers, shopping centres, and ride-hailing companies. He noted that transport management requires not only infrastructure development but also stronger connectivity and collaboration with transport service providers.
