Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has called on PT Jakarta Propertindo Persero (Jakpro) to bring the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) closer to the community of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, so that local residents can benefit from the presence of an international-standard stadium in their neighbourhood.

“JIS is an international-standard stadium but it must also be utilised by the surrounding community,” Pramono said when opening the JIS Ramadhan Festival 2026 in Jakarta on Sunday.

He requested that the jogging track and athletic facilities in the area be made available for local residents to use for exercise. He cited the example of Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), which is widely utilised by Jakarta residents for sporting activities.

Additionally, JIS should involve local residents in the programmes it creates so they can benefit directly. Pramono viewed the JIS Ramadhan Festival 2026 as part of this effort, with neighbouring residents participating in the bazaars and obtaining affordable food supplies.

“I appreciate this and programmes that bring residents closer to JIS should be increased,” he said.

Meanwhile, PT Jakpro Chief Executive Officer Iwan Takwin stated that the JIS Ramadhan Festival 2026 was designed as a community space that integrates religious activities, family entertainment, cultural performances, and affordable food bazaars for Jakarta residents.

He said the event also served as a platform for micro, small and medium enterprise (UMKM) activation and economic empowerment of the community around Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). The entire series of activities emphasised values of togetherness, inclusivity, and social benefit.

He stated that JIS functions not only as a sports stadium but also as a space capable of hosting religious, social, cultural, and economic activities simultaneously.

“We position JIS as an icon of Jakarta that is modern, inclusive, and sustainable, in line with the Governor of DKI Jakarta’s vision of realising Jakarta as a global city with internationally standard public spaces,” he said.

The JIS Ramadhan Festival 2026 will be held on 28 February–1 March 2026 at the JIS East Concourse, with a target of 20,000 visitors and free entry for the public. As part of the Ramadhan programme, Jakpro will also provide 3,000 packages of affordable food supplies during the festival.

This is part of a total of 4,500 food supply packages distributed by Jakpro throughout Ramadhan, aimed at easing the financial burden on residents and maintaining purchasing power in the JIS area.

As a main attraction, the JIS Ramadhan Festival 2026 will feature a series of religious lectures and sermons delivered by prominent national preachers, including Ustadz Khalid Basalamah, Ustadz Ali Hasan Bawazier, Ustadz Abdul Somad, Ustadz Das’ad Latif, and Ustadz Solmed.

“The presence of these preachers is expected to provide spiritual comfort and moderate, inclusive religious insights for the community,” he said.
