Pramono Appoints 521 Functional Officials, Majority Pol PP and Teachers
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has formally appointed 521 functional officials from 15 types of posts across 11 regional government units to take up new positions within the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta). Pramono noted that the majority of the officials sworn in are Civil Service Police (Pol PP), amounting to 473 people, followed by teachers and other functional posts.
“The majority of the functional officials sworn in today are Civil Service Police, namely 473 people,” Pramono said at the Jakarta City Hall in Central Jakarta on Wednesday 4 March.
“I want to urge and ask all Civil Service Police personnel to carry out the task of enforcing local regulations with a firm yet humane, professional, and non-discriminatory approach,” he continued.
According to him, the functional officials sworn in today reaffirm their commitment to merit-based bureaucratic reform for a professional bureaucracy within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
“Today, 521 functional officials from 15 types of posts across 11 regional units have been sworn in. The entire process of filling these posts has been conducted with a fair, transparent, and accountable merit-based principle,” Pramono said.
As part of strengthening the performance of regional government units, the swearing-in supports Jakarta’s transformation into a global city and a centre of the national economy. Pramono emphasised that the placement of ASN personnel must be based on competence and performance.
“The placement of posts must be based on competence and performance so that the bureaucracy we build is truly professional, of integrity, and trusted by the people,” he asserted.
Pramono also targeted that these new functional officials be adaptable to city challenges, innovative, synergistic, professional, and transparent.
“I and Bang Doel [DKI Deputy Governor Rano Karno, also known as Si Doel] are committed to strengthening the meritocracy system as the foundation of bureaucratic reform in this DKI Jakarta government,” he said.
Pramono is convinced that filling these functional posts will refine the organisational structure that had previously been solidified at the leadership level.
“And hopefully with this swearing-in, functional officials in Jakarta can be filled promptly, as almost all officials, particularly those at Echelon 2 and 3, are already filled in Jakarta,” Pramono said.
Moreover, the completeness of berpartments formation within the government is not solely aimed at meeting administrative targets. Pramono stressed that the ultimate aim of the entire reshuffle and filling of posts must culminate in improved work quality that can be directly felt by the public.
“I hope that with the filling of these functional officials, services for the people of Jakarta can be improved,” Pramono said.
