JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung swore in 521 functional officials within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government at the Multipurpose Room, Grha Ali Sadikin, City Hall Building, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Of the 521 officials sworn in, 473 were members of Satpol PP DKI, while the remainder were teachers.

Pramono emphasised that the entire appointment process was conducted on merit, i.e., based on ability and performance.

‘Today 521 functional officials from 15 job types across 11 regional agencies were sworn in. The whole appointment process has been carried out according to the principle of meritocracy that is fair, transparent, and accountable,’ said Pramono on Wednesday.

He said that functional positions are not merely titles but mandates that must be carried out with responsibility.

Because the majority sworn in are Satpol PP, Pramono gave a special message. He urged Satpol PP to be firm in enforcing regulations, but also to prioritise a humane and non-discriminatory approach.

‘I want to urge and ask all ranks of the Civil Service Police Unit to carry out the task of enforcing local regulations by emphasising a firm but humane, professional, and non-discriminatory approach,’ Pramono said.

He said that orderly public spaces are one of the keys for Jakarta to present itself as a modern, well-organised global city.

‘The Satpol PP ranks must also be able to maintain public order and city tidiness consistently by ensuring the pedestrian functions remain as a safe and comfortable space for the community,’ he added.

To the teachers who were sworn in, Pramono hoped they would play an active role in improving the quality of education in Jakarta. He stressed the importance of professional, fair learning processes focused on character development of students. ‘Make sure schools become safe and inspiring places for Jakarta’s younger generation,’ he said.

‘The task is to ensure Jakarta remains safe, comfortable, and stable so that community activities are not disrupted,’ he concluded.
