Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, called on the public to undertake mudik to Jakarta in order to save fuel for their vehicles amid the intensifying United States–Israel–Iran tensions. “I will continue to encourage people to mudik to Jakarta, so that the fuel isn’t wasted (BBM),” said Pramono in South Jakarta on Friday. Regarding the large number of people in other regions queuing at petrol stations (SPBU) and engaging in panic buying for fear of a price rise in BBM, the man known as Pram believes this will not happen in Jakarta. He assured that BBM stock for Jakarta remains relatively safe. “I am confident that there will be no panic buying in Jakarta for fuel,” said Pramono. On the other hand, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) guarantees that subsidised BBM prices will not rise and stock remains safe amid Middle East dynamics caused by the US–Israel war with Iran. “We would like to tell the public to stay calm because the government ensures the availability of stock to meet energy needs, especially ahead of Idul Fitri,” said ESDM Ministry spokesperson Dwi Anggia. Oil prices surged amid concerns about Middle East supply disruptions, with Brent up 4.93 percent to $85.41 per barrel, while US WTI rose 8.51 percent to $81.01 per barrel. The prices are higher than the January 2026 average, with Brent (ICE) at $64 per barrel and US WTI at $57.87 per barrel. “We urge the public to remain calm, not to panic buy, and not to hoard, as that could cause shortages,” Anggia said. In addition to ensuring secure BBM stocks, the government also ensures that BBM distribution to the regions runs smoothly to meet the public’s needs.
