Pramono Anung Vows Strict Action Against Official Involved in Extortion
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has asserted that he will take firm action against any employee involved in the alleged extortion case against a community learning centre in Cilincing, North Jakarta. Pramono confirmed that the Provincial Government is currently investigating the case to uncover the facts. “There will be no discrimination for this,” Pramono stated firmly to reporters after attending a memorandum of understanding signing event at City Hall on Monday, 13 July 2026. He added that if the investigation proves the perpetrator is an active member who violated regulations, the heaviest sanctions will be imposed immediately.
The case came to light after a photo went viral on social media. The narrative circulating claimed that a man named Givson Samosir committed extortion at the Merah Putih Community Learning Centre in Cilincing, North Jakarta, by falsely claiming to be a member of the North Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP). Based on preliminary examination, the incident occurred on Monday, 6 July 2026, at around 2.30 p.m. local time. The perpetrator visited the learning centre and questioned its operating permit. After intimidation, he demanded Rp300,000, but the centre’s management only handed over Rp150,000.
Responding to the uproar, the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP swiftly launched an investigation. Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP, Arifin, clarified that the perpetrator, with the initials GS, was not a member of the North Jakarta Satpol PP as he had claimed during the act. “We firmly state that the extortion perpetrator, Givson Samosir, is an Expert-Level Operational Staff member of the Civil Service Police Unit for East Jakarta City, not a member of the North Jakarta Satpol PP,” Arifin explained. GS has been summoned and has undergone intensive examination by the internal team of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP since Thursday, 9 July 2026. For the alleged extortion and disciplinary violation, the perpetrator faces a severe disciplinary penalty. The examination and sanction filing process against GS is currently ongoing.
