Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stressed the importance of synergy between religious scholars and the government to maintain peace amid the complex dynamics of the capital. He made the remarks while attending an event at the Jakarta International Velodrome in East Jakarta on Tuesday (18/8).

“This shows that although Jakarta is complex and its dynamics are very challenging, the regional government together with all elements of society can keep Jakarta much better, especially in religious life,” Pramono said.

According to Pramono, the harmonious relationship between the provincial government and religious figures reflects good governance. He appreciated the role of the Forum Ulama Habaib (Fuhab), which he said has consistently maintained calm in society and upheld the principle of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia as non-negotiable.

Pramono also highlighted Jakarta’s Human Development Index achievement, which is currently the highest in Indonesia, surpassing the Special Region of Yogyakarta. He believes transparent communication with various parties, including religious scholars, is a key factor in Jakarta’s stability in facing global economic pressures.

At the same event, the Chairman of DPP FUHAB DKI Jakarta, KH Muhammad Luthfi Zawawi, inaugurated the Fuhab leadership for the 2026-2031 period. The organisational structure has now been strengthened to the grassroots level, covering 267 urban villages and 44 sub-districts throughout Jakarta, as well as buffer areas such as Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, and Depok.

“This inauguration moment serves as a gateway for Fuhab to provide the best contribution to the nation, especially the City of Jakarta, in the fields of social affairs, education, and religious outreach,” Luthfi said.

Going forward, Fuhab is committed to strengthening programmes to prevent social problems, including cooperating with the National Narcotics Agency for anti-drug education. Additionally, the organisation will assist in socialising government programmes, such as waste sorting in residential areas.

Luthfi expressed hope that all board members can synergise with the government to realise Jakarta as a global city that is advanced and modern, yet still cultured and with good morals.
