Pramono Anung Says Tendean Footbridge Damage Caused by Truck Driver Negligence

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the damage to the pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, was purely caused by the negligence of a truck driver transporting heavy equipment. The vehicle was found to have exceeded the maximum height limit for road infrastructure.

The incident significantly impacted public mobility, causing severe traffic congestion in the Tendean area. Pramono expressed regret over the occurrence, describing it as an act of carelessness that should have been avoidable.

"Regarding the damage to the Tendean JPO, it was truly due to the negligence of the driver carrying heavy equipment that exceeded the height capacity, causing extraordinary congestion," Pramono said during a statement in North Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7).

He stressed the importance of driver compliance with vehicle dimension regulations. According to him, every heavy transport driver must accurately calculate the load height before traversing urban routes to maintain safety and the integrity of public facilities.

In response to the impact of the damage, Pramono has instructed the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) and related Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD) to carry out emergency handling on the ground. The current focus is on alleviating traffic density and ensuring the safety of road users around the incident site.

"I have asked the Transportation Agency and related OPDs to help open up the traffic flow at the Tendean JPO," he added. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently prioritising traffic management to restore mobility along the Jalan Kapten Tendean corridor. In addition to managing vehicle flow, relevant parties are also initiating technical steps to follow up on the repair of the affected bridge infrastructure so that it can be used again by pedestrians as soon as possible.
