Jakarta — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his loss following the death of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno.

Pramono remembered the late Try as a figure who could unite all people during his lifetime.

“As someone who knew Pak Try Sutrisno closely for a long time, I certainly feel this loss. Because he was a founding father who embraced everyone,” said Pramono at the residence of mourning on Purwakarta Street, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday (2 March 2026).

The PDI P politician said he had known Try Sutrisno since 1995.

“And we have all lost someone who dedicated his life to the nation and state until his final days. We will all certainly miss Pak Try Sutrisno,” he explained.

Try Sutrisno died at RSPAD Gatot Subroto military hospital on Monday morning. His body is now at a residence in the Menteng area of Jakarta for lying in state.

According to plans, Try’s body will be prayed over at Sunda Kelapa Mosque and buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery this afternoon.

Try’s son, Taufik Dwi Cahyono, stated that his father’s health had declined due to advanced age, as Try had reached 90 years old.

“Father’s condition declined because of his age—everything declines at that age. There was no specific illness, it was simply age-related deterioration in respiratory capacity and similar issues,” said Taufik at RSPAD Gatot Subroto on Monday.

“He was admitted from 16 February. His appetite simply dropped suddenly, so he was brought here, with ups and downs, given medication and food,” Taufik added.

Taufik stated that the RSPAD and presidential medical teams had provided the best possible treatment to Try.
