Pramono Anung: Public Service Officers Prohibited from WFH
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta is following up on the central government’s directive regarding working from home (WFH) and distance learning (PJJ) for students on Tuesday (18/8).
However, the WFH policy does not apply to officials who provide direct services to the public.
Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung said the implementation of PJJ in Jakarta is a follow-up to the central government’s directive through the Minister of State Secretary.
“Regarding PJJ, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is certainly following up on the decision or directive of the central government through the Minister of State Secretary,” said Pramono in East Jakarta on Tuesday (18/8).
According to him, the flexibility of working from home must not disrupt public services. Officials who have direct contact with the public are still required to be present in the field.
“For those who deal with the public, providing services to the public, they are not allowed to work from home or work from everywhere. They must be in the field, must interact directly with the people who need them,” he stressed.
The WFH policy is set out in Circular Letter Number 26/SE/2026 concerning the Implementation of Work from Home in the context of commemorating the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. Under the regulation, the implementation of WFH remains adjusted to the needs and type of work.
Pramono emphasised that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will carry out the central government’s directive in accordance with the provisions. He declined to speculate on social media claims linking the PJJ policy to the anticipation of demonstrations.
“The important thing for me is that we carry out what has been directed. I don’t want to think about that,” said Pramono.
With this policy, the implementation of PJJ on the one hand continues to run in accordance with the central government’s directive, while public services that require the direct presence of officials continue to operate in the field.
