Pramono Anung Leads Jakarta's 499th Anniversary Ceremony

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo acted as the inspector of ceremonies for the 499th anniversary of Jakarta at the National Monument on Monday (22/6). DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto served as the ceremony officer, while Muchtar Zakaria, Head of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department, served as the ceremony commander. Prior to the ceremony, the commemoration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary at Monas was enlivened by various traditional Betawi art performances. The event also featured a colossal performance recounting the life story of M H Thamrin, a Betawi national hero, and the history of the city of Jakarta. On Monday (22/6), Jakarta celebrated its 499th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, the Jakarta Provincial Government provided free public transport services and access to several tourist attractions. Governor Pramono stated that on 22, 27, and 28 June 2026, public transport and tourist facilities in Jakarta would be free for all holders of Indonesian identity cards (KTP), not just those registered in Jakarta.
