Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has emphasised that padel courts located in the Meruya Jamblang area of West Jakarta are prohibited from operating before obtaining a Building Approval (PBG). The measure is part of enforcing spatial utilisation regulations in the capital.

Pramono stated that building enforcement is being carried out firmly and without discrimination. This includes action against court operators known to have connections or backgrounds as former civil servants (ASN) within the Jakarta City Hall.

“As long as the padel court does not obtain a permit or PBG, the Jakarta Provincial Government will certainly not grant further permission for it to operate,” Pramono said when met in the Pancoran area of South Jakarta on Friday (28/8).

He stressed that all spatial utilisation activities and use of Jakarta Provincial Government assets must comply with applicable regulations. Pramono assured that there would be no special treatment for any party, even if they have a working relationship with the regional government.

“As Governor of Jakarta, I must of course be fair that the rules apply to everyone. Not only to the public but to anyone,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Pramono revealed that the enforcement operation also targets a number of other sports courts managed by former City Hall civil servants. For him, a previous professional background or position cannot be used as a reason to ignore legitimate licensing procedures.

With this firm stance, the Jakarta Provincial Government is ensuring that these sports facilities remain closed and are not permitted to resume operations until all licensing requirements and PBG documents are fully met by the operators.
