Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has expressed his desire to make life comfortable for residents of the capital, stating this is his main focus in leading the city. “So if asked what is most important, for me in one word, it is making things comfortable,” he said in the Bundaran HI area on Saturday evening.

According to him, one factor that can make life easier and more comfortable for Jakarta residents is strengthening connectivity. Therefore, the Jakarta Provincial Government is striving to continuously improve public transport connectivity in the capital. Pramono said his administration will soon inaugurate the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai line in August 2026. After that, construction of the Jakarta LRT line will be extended from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas to bolster public transport connectivity. “We will soon continue from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas,” he said.

Furthermore, the Jakarta Provincial Government has also commenced construction of a pedestrian facility, a ‘doughnut bridge’ pedestrian deck, in the Dukuh Atas area on Sunday. The pedestrian deck, targeted for completion in 2028, will connect six public transport modes in the Dukuh Atas area. Pramono added that his administration is also building a tunnel connecting several buildings in the Bundaran HI area—Pullman, Grand Hyatt, Kempinski, and Mandarin—with the Bundaran HI MRT Station underground. The tunnel is targeted for completion next year. “Actually, I planned for it to be finished by early next year, but it looks like it will be a gift for Jakarta’s five-century anniversary,” Pramono remarked.

He believes this connectivity will make life increasingly easier for Jakarta residents, as people will be easily linked to public transport in the city. “So the most important thing, if asked what is being prepared for Jakarta, is to make people’s lives more comfortable, easier, and connected,” Pramono said. On another note, Pramono stated that his administration is also continuously expanding clean water service coverage in Jakarta. The target is for 100 per cent of Jakarta residents to be served with clean water through PAM Jaya by 2029. “In the coming weeks, people will also see the colour of Taman Semanggi change. I am targeting Taman Semanggi’s four sides, two sides must be finished by the end of this year, and the other two sides as a gift by 22 June,” he said.
