Pramono Aims to Extend LRT to JIS and Whoosh, Requests Danantara's Assistance
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has revealed plans to continue the development of the Jakarta LRT to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, known as Whoosh. He has requested support from Danantara to assist in realising these plans.
Pramono made these remarks during the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route at Manggarai LRT Station, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/09/2026). The inauguration was officiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
“Mr President, what is also pleasing is that we will continue this LRT from Kelapa Gading to JIS, and then from Velodrome to Whoosh, the high-speed rail,” said Pramono.
“Mr President, it would be even more pleasing if you could task Danantara to also assist us, Sir,” he continued.
Pramono noted that the newly inaugurated Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route spans 12.2 kilometres. The project was undertaken by Jakpro, a Jakarta-owned regional enterprise (BUMD), using the Jakarta Provincial Budget (APBD).
“The Jakarta LRT was entirely built by Jakpro, a BUMD, and fully utilised the Jakarta Provincial Government’s budget,” he stated.
He mentioned that the investment for the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT reached IDR 12.1 trillion. Each train set can carry approximately 270 passengers, with a daily passenger target of around 80,000 people.
Pramono also announced that the Jakarta LRT would be open for free for almost an entire week. The travel fare has been set at only IDR 8 for eight days following the inauguration.
“For 8 days, the fare is just 8 rupiah, Sir. It was almost free, Sir,” he added.
