Pramono Aims for Jakarta LPDP to Launch in 2027, Plans for 100 Scholarship Recipients
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has set a target for the Jakarta Provincial Government’s (Pemprov) Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship program to begin next year. In the initial phase, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government aims to send at least 100 scholarship recipients abroad.
This was conveyed by Pramono during a gathering and breaking of the fast with the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Education Office and school principals at the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Thursday (26/2/2026).
“One of the things I really want to launch is to have a Jakarta LPDP. Is it possible? I’m sure it is,” said Pramono.
Pramono said that his party had started discussing the plan in more detail. His party has also met with the national LPDP leadership to find the right scheme so that Jakarta has its own scholarship program.
“Three days ago, I was accompanied by Ms. Nana to receive the director or the highest-ranking official at LPDP, Mr. Dwi Larso. We have started talking in more detail,” he said.
He admitted that the launch of the Jakarta LPDP was delayed due to cuts in revenue sharing funds for Jakarta. However, the DKI Provincial Government has now found a way to realize the program.
“I have told Ms. Nana that if possible, next year we can send at least 100 LPDP recipients,” he explained.
Pramono emphasized that the Jakarta LPDP program will be open fairly, including for educators who want to continue their education to a higher level. He also encouraged that support for education in Jakarta should not be limited to the undergraduate level, but also to master’s and doctoral levels.
According to him, education is the key to changing a person’s future. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government is committed to expanding access to education through various programs, including the planned Jakarta LPDP.
“It is education that changes a person’s fate,” he added.
